The routine that carried your skin through a Canberra or Melbourne winter is not the routine you want in September. Heating is off, humidity is climbing, and skin that needed occlusion in July starts to feel congested in spring. Here's what to change, and what to leave alone.

What changes about skin in spring?

Two things. Ambient humidity rises, so skin loses water to the air more slowly — the heavy creams that stopped winter dehydration now have less to do. And oil production picks up with the temperature, which is why the first warm week often brings congestion for people who had none in winter.

The instinct is to strip everything back. That's usually an overcorrection: skin still needs hydration, it just needs it lighter.

Lighten the sealing layer, keep the hydrating one

Hydration and occlusion are different jobs. Humectants — hyaluronic acid, glycerin, panthenol — draw water in, and you want those year-round. Heavy occlusives sit on top and stop water leaving, and that's the part spring needs less of.

In practice: keep your serum, lighten your moisturiser, and let a mist do more of the day-to-day topping up. The Hydration Glow Mist is the useful spring tool here — it re-hydrates without adding weight, which is exactly the trade winter creams get wrong once the weather turns.

Bring the glow back to the surface

Winter skin gets dull for a straightforward reason: less light, more layers, slower turnover. Spring is when a vitamin C step earns its place again. The Luxurious Glow Serum pairs vitamin C with ferulic and hyaluronic acids — brightness plus the hydration you're keeping.

Apply it to clean skin in the morning, let it absorb, and follow with SPF. That last part matters more from September than it did in June.

Legs come out before they're ready

The first warm day always arrives before anyone has thought about it. A dry-touch body oil is the fastest fix — Pearl is the more forgiving shade in bright spring daylight, where Bronze reads better later in the season or over a tan.

Apply it straight out of the shower while skin is still damp; it spreads further and absorbs faster. Full method in after-shower body oil.

Don't drop the lip step

Lips lag behind the rest of your face by a few weeks — the damage from winter heating is still there in September even once your skin has recovered. Keep the Plumping Lip Oil going daily through the transition rather than stopping the moment the weather improves.

A simple spring version

Serum, mist, SPF in the morning. Body oil after the shower. Lip oil before the door. It's the same three-step ritual, just lighter — and if you want it as one set, the Glow Ritual covers face, body and lips together.

Come summer, the priorities shift again — heat, humidity and water resistance. We covered that in summer glow that lasts.
